Student of the Month, for more information about James Bowie High School's
monthly contest. This month, April, the students had a pretty intense
competition. The faculty decided this contest would be great for the students
because it'll make them work harder and strive for an achievement. The students
meet certain requirements every month and throughout the year to win this
award. Congratulations to Emma Koch for winning the award!
Emma has excelled in all things academic and extra
curricular, sweeping away the competition for Student of the Month.
“I selected Emma Koch as Student of the Month for
various reasons,” Principal Kane tells us. “Emma has succeeded in all her
classes, participated in PALS and NJHS, as well as always having a positive
attitude.” Some requirements are having a GPA of above a 3.8, you must be
taking at least 2 Pre-AP classes, and participate in one club. Emma has
succeeded all of the categories, with a 4.2 GPA, 2 clubs, and all Pre-AP
classes.
We asked Emma why she wanted to be Student of the
Month.
“My brother, Brad, was Student of the Month two
years ago, I wanted to prove to him that I could do it too,” Emma replied. When
we were interviewing Emma, she told us that her parents were very proud of her
for winning the award, and that she was utterly shocked and overjoyed when she
heard her name being announced. She felt a lot of pride in herself for winning
and pushing herself.
Emma plans to graduate early next year, then later
attend college at Stanford.
