2. HDR software blending, light, a subject, a tripod and a DSLR camera are all necessary to take a successful HDR picture.

Student of the Month, for more information about James Bowie High School's
monthly contest. This month, April, the students had a pretty intense
competition. The faculty decided this contest would be great for the students
because it'll make them work harder and strive for an achievement. The students
meet certain requirements every month and throughout the year to win this
award. Congratulations to Emma Koch for winning the award!
Emma has excelled in all things academic and extra
curricular, sweeping away the competition for Student of the Month.
“I selected Emma Koch as Student of the Month for
various reasons,” Principal Kane tells us. “Emma has succeeded in all her
classes, participated in PALS and NJHS, as well as always having a positive
attitude.” Some requirements are having a GPA of above a 3.8, you must be
taking at least 2 Pre-AP classes, and participate in one club. Emma has
succeeded all of the categories, with a 4.2 GPA, 2 clubs, and all Pre-AP
classes.
We asked Emma why she wanted to be Student of the
Month.
“My brother, Brad, was Student of the Month two
years ago, I wanted to prove to him that I could do it too,” Emma replied. When
we were interviewing Emma, she told us that her parents were very proud of her
for winning the award, and that she was utterly shocked and overjoyed when she
heard her name being announced. She felt a lot of pride in herself for winning
and pushing herself.
Emma plans to graduate early next year, then later
attend college at Stanford.

Final Exam Review
1.
2. I already knew how to place the photos in order.
3. I learned how to trim the clips.
4. I'm concerned about the editing quality and getting the assignment completed and turned in on time.
5. I feel confident that I'll have my picture take early because I have my own camera at home.
6. I would say that I'd take a picture everyday of my leap to see if it would improve over the weeks.

Portfolios
1.Travis Haughton
Sports and stories
Faces turned around, little kids overused, ugly backgrounds.
Different ideas, looser.
I didn’t like how the pictures were grainy and I didn’t like
how many children he over used. I did like some sports photos.
Melissa Golden
Stories
Boring, out of focus, overly photo shopped.
Portraits.
I disliked that they weren’t in rule of thirds format, I
liked the black and white portraits.
Sam Adams
Sports
No direct faces, issues in the background, bad composition.
Black and white photos, scenery.

Warm Up- iPhone Photos
1. My favorite photo was the one of the little girl with bright green eyes in a green blanket.
2. The photos seem as though they've been taken with a DSLR, I would've never guessed these amazing photos were taken with a phone.
3. I feel like the photos were so individually beautiful that they didn't need a huge impact on the photos from editing apps.
4. To improve my own phone photography, I may try to get at different angles and find different ways to use light.

Sensory Overload Warm Up

2. I would love to go and get some cool shots at Commodity City, it seems like so much to take in and I'd love to be given the opportunity to capture those moments.

Action/Sports/Motion PPT Warm Up Answers
Slide 1: The photo is significant to sports because it captures the football tradition to pour a bucket of a drink, such as Gatorade, onto the coach after a win.
Slide 2: The shutter speed has to be fast in order to capture the image quick enough.
Slide 3: Because it's tradition, the moment was at least expected, but the shot wasn't planned, however it could've been a key moment if it was a big game.
Slide 4: There was most likely a special lens used to capture this shot, however some present techniques being used were shutter speed and motion stopping.

Prompt Shoot Peer Review
ABSENT THE CLASS WE DID THIS ASSIGNMENT
Hannah's Blog: 5th Period
1. Out of Hannah's Footprints, Pose, Pause, and The End prompt shoot, I liked her "Pose" picture the best, it's very happy and energized, it contains balance, rule of thirds, and it avoids mergers.
2. My lest favorite photo would have to be the "Footprints" photo, it felt very mainstream, she could've been more creative with it. However, there is some great balance in it.
3. I really liked the way her Pause photo turned out, it reveals a lot about the subject by the way he sits and acts, it's natural. I loved the "The End' photo, it was very bold and I really liked the touch of black and white.
4. One area she can approve upon, is creativity, her photography has a lot of potential and if she branches out some, her photos can be truly amazing.
5. The prompt I think she portrayed the best was The End because it was taken so boldly, it was a real statement photo.
6. The prompt I think she least successfully portrayed was footprints.
